Thank you Peter for giving me the opportunity to the visit the new HammondCare Facility at Darlinghurst ahead of its opening in March 2020. This unique 42 bed facility is a residential aged care service for older people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing high levels of care for complex health needs. It will provide a permanent home and specialised care for frail older people with a lived experience of homelessness. The facility has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and a unique apartment-style design to accommodate the individual needs of each resident. It is rare that a facility such as this goes from DA stage in 2017 to completion during a single Council term so I am thrilled that the service will be open next week. I am looking forward to visiting again in the coming months. Watch this video to see where it began
