Checking in on businesses in Sydney

It has been 5 months since the Covid-19 virus has impacted our way of life and businesses in the City of Sydney have spent this time adjusting to a quieter City.

I have been visiting these businesses over the last few months to see and hear how they have adapted to these changes, whether it has been creating a stronger online presence, introducing a delivery service or using this slower period as an opportunity to renovate.

All of these businesses have remained optimistic however they are eager for this period to be over. I have been very impressed with the resilience of these operators, it has been a tough time but it has also proven to be an opportunity for these businesses to innovate and overcome some of these challenges.

The City of Sydney is continuing to support these businesses where we can. At our August Council meeting, Council resolved to continue the waiver of footway dining fees and market permit and filming fees and fees for Health and Building compliance activities as well as review rents with tenants in City properties and review the need for further support for our cultural, creative and community tenants under our Accommodation Grants program.
